International: Co-founder and Scientific Editor, Dreiviertel Publishing Company, Hamburg, Germany (1997-1999), business plan development and market placement of new public reading magazine "mare" that won World Press Photo Award and several international photo awards; strategic content planning, author relations, and journalistic writing. Research Assistant Professor, Kiel University, Germany, (1990-1996), established first German multidisciplinary working group in novel marine research field; led multi-national European Union research projects and represented German Ministry of Research in European consultations.

Strategic Management: CEO, Algae to Omega Holdings, 2015. Led turnaround of stalling startup company by implementing new corporate strategies and processes and headed $3 million funding round, investor relations, and business development negotiations. Senior Director Aquaculture and Director of Research Facility, Algenol Biofuels, 2007-2015. Led 38 member R&D department and 25 member cross-functional, multi-national project teams for $200 million industrial biotech/renewable fuels company. Improved competitive position by designing R&D strategy, development of patents, proprietary technology, and regulatory frameworks and as reporting researcher on $25 million DOE grant. Maintained investor relations and public company presentation.

Research: Stanford University (1996), University of Texas (1999-2000), Researcher pioneering adoption of innovative biomedical technologies in marine science; Florida International University (2001-2007), Assistant Professor, designed new Marine Biology degree program and project managed internal design of 15,000 sq.ft. research and teaching building with
$1.2 million equipment budget. Established research projects by securing extramural grant funding.
